Comprehensive Teacher Training
Pilates is a nearly 100-year-old system of corrective exercise now considered the standard for core stabilization. A popular term in modern fitness, core stability simply means that a body can move selected parts while keeping others still or stable. In particular, this refers to the support and stability of the spine, the key to function for any healthy body.
The Pilates Method focuses on the following principles:
- Attention to breath
- Concentration
- Control of the whole body throughout a movement
- Centering
- Flowing movement
- Precision
Consistent Pilates practice enhances:
- Awareness of postural habits or movement patterns
- Balance
- Circulation
- Oxygenation
- Elongation of muscles
- Uniform balance of muscles
- Decompression of spine and all other joints
The comprehensive Balance Within Pilates training incorporates an explanation of the theory and rationale behind the techniques and allows teachers to help the client to understand how to integrate Pilates into daily life.
Balance Within offers two study options:
The Summer Intensive, a two-week overview of the entire system of Pilates exercises and the theory supporting the work. Appropriate for the enthusiast as well as the professional. A good starting point. Comprehensive Teacher Training, which includes a full lecture series twice (at least), 130 hrs. of observation, 250 hrs. of practice teaching and ending with a series of tests. The successful student will be competent in the full Pilates system, all equipment and mat, incorporating both traditional and rehabilitative techniques.
